Behaviors that felt familiar, yet didn’t reflect the person I wanted to be. I found myself responding to challenges in ways that felt automatic, as if I were living from a script that had been written long before I ever had a chance to question it.

For a long time, I focused on what was happening around me.

When I felt frustrated, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unhappy, I could easily point to the circumstances, situations, or people around me and explain why I felt the way I did. Looking back, I realize my mind was trying to protect me. It felt safer to believe that what I was experiencing was being caused by something outside of myself than to explore what might be happening within.

My body had a way of providing me with information long before my mind was ready to receive it. The symptoms were real, but I spent a lot of time making excuses for them rather than becoming curious about them.

The more curious I became and the more inner work I did to help nurture and grow that connection the faster and easier it was for my mind to understand what my nervous system was telling me.

What I eventually realized was that the people and circumstances around me were not the root of my struggles. They were simply shining a light on parts of myself that were asking to be seen, understood, and healed.

The real growth began when I stopped asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and started asking, “What is this trying to teach me?”

With curiosity and growth I began developing my own tool box. I discovered what tools worked for me and how to integrate them into my life with purpose. I believe that everyone has their own tool box, one that can be developed more and more over time. With little steps and conscious effort every day I started to blossom more and more into my true potential.

Growth didn’t begin when I discovered all the answers. It began when I became curious enough to explore the roots.

What might you discover if you gave yourself permission to look beneath the surface and listen to what your roots have been trying to tell you?

Why Growth Begins at the Roots My journey of growth didn’t begin because I had everything figured out.
